Hello! Here I Go…

So welcome to Joy Trails...

I've been wanting to do this for a very long time. So thank you for popping in! I'm going to start with rambles, but hopefully, it will make sense if you stick with me!

It's Sunday and I par-boiled an egg for a runny yolk- this doesn't sound very flash but I've never done it before. I'm a boiled eggs kind of person, runny isn't usually a thing, except yesterday mushrooms happened. In particular, TRUFFLES happened. They happened into my shopping basket at the markets because they were mixed into pure fresh farm butter. !!!

So I had to make toast soldiers because- butter and truffle and fresh eggs from my girls. AHHH. So GOOD. And it sort of worked, the second time. 5 minutes ONLY otherwise you boil an egg and it's too hard for truffle buttered gluten-free toast with fresh dill, salt and pepper. But once I perfected it, it was PURE JOY.

Joy, my friends, is a lot of things. I hope you find it today, because Joy is why we are here, and why my business is JoyTrails, and why I started a blog with truffles. I realised today that truffles- like or loathe them, are the ultimate connection between nature and humans. They come from the earth. They are rich in nutrients, tasty and precious and made by the earth. And humans treasure them. They bring us joy and they nurture us.

Just like all of nature.

If we stop to listen.

In our busy lives, we do not often stop to remember that we are deeply connected to nature. And that when we stop, just for a moment, and engage one of our senses, the smell of buttered truffle toast, for example, then we have a moment to remember and give thanks to how precious our lives are, how enriched, nourished and nurtured WE are, through nature. That in fact, WE are nature.

Not sure about this? Fair enough. But the more I study and listen and engage, the more I know our everyday lives are lovingly and joyfully enriched by nature, even if we aren't conscious of it...

Yes, thankfully, all of our senses are still closely linked to nature. Our sleep hormones are governed by the amount of light our retinas receive. Because so many of us stare at computer screens and maybe miss the sunrise and sunset, we may have trouble sleeping. Plus - you know those 4 walls we work and live in? They stop us from looking long distance. So we are getting more short-sighted. The GREAT and JOYFUL thing about all of this is that nature is in our cells and our bodies, senses and deep inside us, we KNOW this is to be some kind of truth.

So all we need to do is tap into it, to find a moment in our day to be reminded, to find a spot of joy, and to celebrate.

Let nature (and truffle butter!) nurture you today. Step outside. Put your feet in the soil, look up to the clouds and take a big deep breath. Have a little moment being grateful for the food you ate last and how it came from the sun, soil and rain. How not only did it taste delicious and nurtured our tastebuds, but it came directly from nature.

I hope that moment helps you today as you go about your busy life, maybe with family and friends.

Happy cloud watching

Xxx Jacquie
